More evidence is mounting on why the sprawling suburban big-box stores are eroding communities, the environment, and other values. It seems that we have given up all the traditional values that make us human, for new ones based on cost and efficiency; this is what happens when any ideology, in this case capitalism, is taken to the extreme.

climbing the ROM

Its as though the construction crews are rock climbing up the slanted faces. At certain times, there were more than 20 people strapped in harnesses working on the one facade. The new building is certainly a huge presence on Bloor, and has begun the transformation of the entire area.

first eco-friendly church

St. Gabriel’s Passionist Parish, in North York (Toronto), is the first church in Canada to be designed to LEED Gold standards. It features a living wall that purifies the air, a naturalized garden facing a solar wall, and coloured skylights in the main worship space.
